Abstract

To contribute to the United Nations Goal 11 and Goal 12 which urge waste reduction in cities, communities, and from within the supply chain, innovative sustainable packaging solutions are gaining popularity among scientists, international, national, and local governments, and retailers. Nevertheless, evaluation of the existing evidence concerning sustainable packaging in the apparel and footwear industry is missing. The main purpose of this systematic review is to identify, summarize, and evaluate the existing sustainable packaging solutions in the apparel and footwear sector to establish a sustainable packaging framework that intends to position new theoretical and practical sustainable packaging advancements.
