Challenging History and Impacting the Future through Outreach

Abstract

The educational gap in Iowa’s high schools leads to a gap in higher education. This gap results in a less diverse workforce. Come hear the history that has impacted the current number of STEM degree-seeking students in American higher education and how using ecological systems theory and communities of practice principles in an outreach program can impact the future of higher education.
