Ableism in Education

Abstract

Our research topic and title is Ableism in Education by Paige, Kayla, and Trevor. We chose this topic because it is relevant in society today and has personally affected some members of our group. Our research findings show that ableism is still a big issue in modern-day society, and although people with disabilities often have the same rights, society often makes decisions or laws without considering those with disabilities. This lack of consideration can put those with disabilities in danger or at a disadvantage (example: COVID-19). Some solutions we considered include requiring certain issues to be discussed within classes as part of the educational program. In addition, there should be more reliable accessibilities for those with disabilities in smaller businesses. For example, we should ensure there is reliable access to ramps, elevators, and counselors if necessary.
