Spread Thin: The Pressures on Asian-American Women and the Effects on their Health

Authors: , ,

Abstract

The multiple pressures among Asian Americans have led to a high rate of depression and/or suicide. This soc ietal burden appears to be higher among women because they face appearance, cu ltural, and academic pressures. Our research will focus on pressures produced by the model minority myth, and their effects on the health of Asian-American women.
